Celebrity Sneaker Heads

Celebrities are known for wearing the best of the best, well most of them at least, and some of these famous names focus their attention solely on their kicks… no pun intended. Fat Joe, Bun B, and Wale are just some of the most well-known sneaker heads in the game, but they are definitely not the only ones.

Kanye West has proven to be a lover of all things fashion, including sneakers, with the release of his Air Yeezys. The rapper was recently seen at his Dw fashion show in Paris rocking a pair of Infrared Air Jordan VI. Even though all of the press should have been focused on the clothes of the fashion line, they couldn’t help but give the man himself some attention. Kid Cudi is another celebrity that does not shy away from showing off his kicks. Just last week, he was doing an interview with Conan O’Brian while wearing the notorious Nike Mags. He also talked about how he copped five pairs during the eBay auction. Yeah, that’s right. He got FIVE pairs. I don’t even want to imagine how much that cost. But, even outside the rap game, celebrities appreciate their kicks, like Orioles pitcher, Jeremy Guthrie, and actor Micheal Trevino who both tweeted pictures of their sneakers.

It’s clear that some celebrities are legit sneaker fiends and love to boast about them. They collect as many as they can and they end up treating them like small children. There are some very impressive collections in this bunch, but which celebrity do you think has the best sneaker collection? Take a look at some of these pictures and let us know what you think.

Finer Things Friday: Nike Mag Auction Begins

Unless you’ve been hiding out under a rock for the past 24 hours, you must know by now that the fictional self-lacing kick from Back to the Future II is now a reality as the 2011 Nike Mag.  Nike is auctioning off 150 pairs a day for the next 10 days, via Ebay, for a total of 1,500 pairs to be released… ever.  The first batch of Mags was released today for auction and I can assure you that unless you are willing to give up your unborn child’s trust fund these sneakers are going to be hard to get your hands on… well unless you have a few grand laying around the house.  I peeked in the auction page for these suckers a little before it hit the 12 hour mark and I saw bids as high as $37,000 (and I heard one person placed a bid of $75,000).  My desire to make a bid was quickly forgotten by that point.  If you can cop yourself a pair of these, then more power to you.  You would’ve proved yourself a true sneaker head… or at least a fairly lavish BTTF fan.  I will say, though, everyone who is buying these kicks is helping out a great cause, as all of the net proceeds are going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.  Today’s auction ends at 8:30pm, so by that time there are going to be 150 very happy people and plenty more eager to start bidding on the next set.  Real quick, how many of you guys placed a bid on a pair of Mags? Or were you guys like ” forget that”? I want to know.

Here are some pictures of the Nike Mag and a video featuring Bill Hader, Christopher Lloyd, Kevin Durant, and, of course, the Nike Mag.

Throwback Thursday: Nike Air Mag

Last night’s announcement of the Nike Air Mag got us reminiscing about the first time we were all introduced to them.  Are you going to cop these?
